German for the life I actually live

A quiet daily German practice app built around a simple goal: everyday vocabulary, grammar and verbs in real context — the language for describing your day, your home, the people around you — practiced a little every single day.

The problem

The big language apps teach a German — everyone’s, so nobody’s. Real conversation runs on everyday vocabulary in context: describing your room, your day, the people around you. And the thing every big app leaves out, probably because it’s expensive at their scale, is the one thing a learner needs mid-lesson: someone to ask. You hit a sentence structure you don’t understand, and your only option is to leave the app and go ask elsewhere.

What I built

Langua runs a daily session: new everyday words in context, retention checks on what you’ve learned before, then a reading — a full passage to read aloud for pronunciation, with a play button to hear it read back for listening practice. Every word and example has audio; anything worth keeping saves to flashcards graded on a spaced-repetition loop. And an AI tutor lives inside the lesson — hit a structure you don’t understand, ask right there, never leave the page.

The quiet engineering is in the content: the vocabulary isn’t scraped word lists but topical banks built by a validation pipeline — home and living, clothing, health, even German admin bureaucracy — checked against dictionary data before a word ever reaches a lesson.
